Midway Kyoto & Osaka Train St 5mins

2 train stations only 8 & 10 mins on foot, located between Osaka and Kyoto (20-30 mins train ride to each downtown respectively). Public transport is so convenient that we have never owned a car here. We're a bilingual family (English/Japanese), and we love learning different languages, so we love meeting people from all over the world. Our kids are 11 and 17. We always enjoy helping our guests with recommendations, direction and other issues they may face in Japan. My husband is a photographer/guide in Kyoto and loves literature & languages, so you can ask him for tips about Kyoto. My son loves playing the guitar and of course games. My daugher loves painting and colors. I love food, slow life, cosy family time and nature. Our house is modern, large (about 200 sq. metre / 2100 sq. feet.) & green (runs on solar energy) with a large living, dining room. The house has 2 toilets and 2 bathrooms. The neighbourhood has many traditional style houses, narrow streets, a 1300 year old temple and a shrine. A quiet place to stay and enjoy local life, but Kyoto and Osaka only 20-30 minutes away by train. I also hold culture classes at home [tea ceremony+calligraphy+kimono], and cooking classes [making sushi+tempura] as part of Airbnb experiences, which you can join at at a lower price than non-homestaying guests. We do not provide dinner, but we offer a light breakfast of toast and coffee.

My wife and I stayed two nights. Most importantly, Akiko and Her Husband Matt, along with their two lovely children, are the best. They were friendly, exceptionally accommodating, and very informative regarding travel in the Kyoto area (and Osaka, as I heard from another guest) The breakfast was simple yet ample and very delicious, with several selections. They provided my wife and me with spot-on travel suggestions as well as explaining how and why and what trains to catch. Their Daughter even showed us adults how to operate an abacus. I highly endorse Aikios Homestay if you want comfortable accommodations, good travel tips, and a comfortable bed. Thanks Akiko!

I had a great experience staying with Akiko, Matt and the kids. Their English is perfect so communication before and during was smooth. I enjoyed talking with them and all the rest - room, house, breakfast, etc. - all was great. Hope to be back one day!

Akiko and her family are very kind and generous people. They are very interested with foreign countries, cultures and people, and they speak english very well. The house is very nice and clean, well situated between the two stations of Sojiji (JR et Hankyu line). The neighborhood is very quiet, and there is a wonderful buddhist temple near the house. They give you a good and hearty breakfast every morning. You feel like at their home as you would be at yours. I do recomand them to every traveler.

Matt and Akiko are friendly hosts who both speak English. When not out sight-seeing, we felt comfortable resting at home, sometimes talking about cultural differences, places to visit or playing with their children. We would happily visit again.

Akiko, Matt and their family were soo lovely. They made us feel comfortable and very welcomed. They live in a great location and we were very sad we had to leave as we wish we had more time there. They gave us excellent suggestions on things to see and do and helped us with everything we needed. We hope to stay again and welcome them to stay with us f they ever come to Australia.

Akiko and her family were absolutely the best! Their house is very roomy and they are very welcoming and accommodating. It was also incredibly refreshing to converse with them in English and learn more about Japanese culture without the language barrier. I sincerely appreciate their hospitality and value the time we spent. Thank you so much Akiko!

Great memories with Akiko, Matt and their family. Friendly hosts who have made us discover their culture and have given precious help for planning our visits. Very welcoming house in a quiet and lovely residential area, easy to find from the train stations. We also enjoyed the cuisine of the cooking class. Best place to explore Kansai from. Thank you for everything, we'll miss you!
